PMRGCAuk Week 10th-16th June

Posted on 4 June 2024

PMRGCAuk Week is our week to raise awareness of the conditions of PMR and GCA and raise funds to support the work we do.

This year, we are pleased to announce three webinars (on Zoom) that are open to everyone with PMR or GCA, and their carers and family who might want to find out more.

Webinar 1: Will Gregory, Consultant Physiotherapist, Salford Royal Hospital

Improving Outcomes through Exercise and Activity

Monday 10th June 12-1pm BST

Will Gregory presented two popular webinars on the subject of exercise and movement, one at our Members’ Day last year and the other, more recently, at the launch of our exercise booklet. He’s back for PMRGCAuk Week to provide a refresher of his previous talks and to talk about increasing your activity levels to help manage your conditions. This webinar also sees the launch of our Marathon in a Month campaign and so will also be helpful for anyone wanting to join in with walking through July.

Webinar 2: Dr Sarah Mackie, Consultant Rheumatologist, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

A Bit of Both? Hidden Complexity in PMR/GCA

Tuesday 11th June 11-12pm BST

The guidelines for managing PMR and GCA appear relatively simple. Sometimes, it really can be that simple. But not always. If PMR-like aches reappear on tapering steroids, is it a PMR relapse or steroid withdrawal? If someone with PMR develops a headache, do they have GCA as well? And when might it be useful to us to think “what if it’s a bit of both?” Either way, patients need support. How do we support patients through the complexity? Sarah Mackie will talk about one possible way to approach this.

Webinar 3: The PMRGCAuk team

Find out how PMRGCAuk helps people with PMR and GCA

Thursday 13th June 2-2.45pm BST

Hear from different people in the charity about what we do and how we support people with PMR and GCA. We’ll be talking about the helpline, support groups, awareness raising, membership benefits, patient forum (on HealthUnlocked) and more. Even if you’re a long-standing member, join us and meet the team and find out a bit more about how we can help you. There will be time for Q&A.

How to register

If you’d like to attend one or more of these webinars please email webinar@pmrgca.org.uk

You will be sent meeting links for all three events and afterwards you will also be sent a link to the recordings.
