Can you help us to raise vital funds to provide more support for those with PMR and GCA?

Set Yourself a Challenge

Do you have an ambition to do something adventurous, or a challenge you want to set yourself? Could you make your dream come true and raise money for PMRGCAuk at the same time?  You can even create events closer to home such as a tea party with a raffle, a quiz night or a sponsored walk or run.

If you have an idea for a fundraising event, you can set up your own fundraising page on JustGiving. Just click on ‘Fundraise for us’ orange button – there you can choose how you would like to set up  your own fundraising page. Please contact us for support materials and to let us know what you are doing so that we can help to publicise your efforts!

Great Grandmother's 30 mile canoe adventure

Great Grandmother’s 30 mile canoe adventure

Eileen, a great grandmother from Malvern, suffers from both PMR and GCA. Together with her husband Ken, she paddled 30 miles along the Birmingham to Worcester canal to raise awareness of both conditions and funds for PMRGCAuk on 7-9th May 2019. The event, which took weeks to prepare for, involved paddling 30 miles, in 3 days, with 57 locks and 5 tunnels as obstacles. The canal also has one of the largest lock flights in Europe – the 30 Tardebigge Locks that climbs 428 feet.

Eileen raised over £3,000 for PMRGCAuk and even spoke about her trip at our 2019 AGM.

Many of our Support Groups organise fundraising activities – from sponsored walks to raffles at tea parties.

Chat to your Group Organiser to find out how you can help. Many Groups take part in PMRGCAuk Week in June every year to fundraise and raise our profile.

Fundraising events

We aim to have 2 fundraising events each year to raise money for the charity.  In recent years Channel 4 News presenter, Cathy Newman, came to talk to members about her new book, Bloody Brilliant Women and Dr Martin Scurr (medical advisor on ITV’s Doc Martin) gave a talk about the show and joined us for afternoon tea.

We have a fundraising event at Coolings Garden Centre in Kent on Monday 1st May – a tour of the garden centre and afternoon tea.  For more details go to our Events page.

To be added to our events mailing list please email events@pmrgca.org.uk
