Grant for research in polymyalgia rheumatica

PMRGCAuk is delighted to announce that, following a generous donation from one of our members, we have awarded a grant for research into polymyalgia rheumatica.

We invited applications from clinicians and/or scientists for a project grant of up to £50,000 total to address one or more of the research priorities identified by people with polymyalgia rheumatica – pain; stiffness and fatigue; diagnosis; steroid management and self- management as discussed in Morton et al – Clin Rheumatol 2019: 38(6); 1767-1772

Applicants should be affiliated to a UK University and/or NHS hospital.

There was a two-stage application process:

We are delighted to let you know that we have awarded the grant to Dr Max Yates of Norwich Medical School whose research will look into “improving the quality of glucocorticoid prescribing for PMR in England.” We hope to share an update on how the research is going in our Winter 2022 NewsWire.
